Welcome to PantamLab! I am Chester Brandes, handpan player and instructor. Whether you are an absolute beginner curious about the magical sound of the handpan, or an experienced player looking to deepen your technique, I offer structured, welcoming, and personalized handpan lessons and workshops right here in The Hague.

1. Handpan Workshops (Beginners)

No musical background or sheet music required—just curiosity! Experience the calming, resonant sounds of top-quality handcrafted handpans in a relaxed, small-group atmosphere (max 4 participants).

What You’ll Experience:

  • How to touch and play the handpan effortlessly
  • Simple rhythms and melodies that sound great right away
  • Playing together, active listening, and gentle improvisation
  • A moment of focus, relaxation, and musical connection

Upcoming Weekend Group Workshops

We host small-group workshops regularly on weekends.

  • Duration: 2 hours (includes a 15-minute break)
  • Group Size: Max 4 people (starts with a min. of 2)
  • Investment: €75 per person

Private & Weekday Workshops (On Request)

Prefer a weekday morning, evening, or private session with friends/family? Flexible scheduling is available!

  • Individual Workshop (1-on-1): 90 mins | €95 (100% focus on your musical flow)
  • Private Group Workshop (2–4 people): 120 mins | €75 p.p. (Includes a 15-min break)
  • Workshop on Location: Up to 4 people at your location (I bring the handpans!). Travel expenses calculated upon request.

2. Individual & Duo Handpan Lessons

Available in-person (The Hague) or online (Zoom/Teams). Learn with a balance of musical structure and creative freedom.

  • Structured yet flexible: Learn not just what to play, but why, giving you the independence to practice with confidence at home.
  • All levels welcome: From striking techniques and rhythm to advanced scales and improvisation.

Lesson Rates:

  • Individual Lesson (30 min): €35
  • Duo Lesson (30 min): €25 per person

3. PantamLab Orientation Course (4 Weeks)

Find your match before making a major investment.

Buying a handpan is a wonderful, but significant investment. In this 4-week intensive mini-course held in my home studio, you can explore high-end instruments, learn fundamental techniques, and discover which material and scale resonate with you most.

What’s Included:

  • Weekly 60-Minute Lesson: Dedicated 1-on-1 or duo instruction covering technique, rhythm, and flow.
  • 30 Minutes Free Practice Time: Enjoy quiet, solo practice time right after your lesson on our top-tier instruments.
  • No instrument needed: Play exclusively on handcrafted handpans provided during session hours.
  • Flexible 6-week timeframe: Pre-schedule all 4 sessions to fit your busy lifestyle.
  • Honest & Independent Advice: Personal guidance if you choose to purchase an instrument afterwards.

Course Investment:

  • Solo Trajectory (1-on-1): 4x (60-min lesson + 30-min practice) | €375
  • Duo Trajectory (with a friend/partner/colleague): 4x (60-min lesson + 30-min practice) | €249 p.p.
